Leadership and Staff

Welcome to Washington Yu Ying! It is with great excitement and commitment as Executive Director, that I get to lead this vibrant community.

My journey with Yu Ying began as a parent and supporter of our school's PA-led events, from the lively Lunar New Year Celebration to the fantastic KidFest. Before Yu Ying, I served as the Chief of Staff for the DC Deputy Mayor of Education and worked closely on initiatives aimed at supporting the DC community.

My passion for education began teaching elementary and middle school students after graduating from Georgetown University. I served as the Founding Principal at Excel Academy Public Charter School and later witnessed the transformative power of community engagement as principal at DC Scholars Stanton Elementary.
‍
In July 2022, I joined the fantastic Yu Ying team. As ED, I am leading the school through our expansion into a second site, opening in Fall 2024.

I am passionate about bringing communities together to solve complex challenges. I am deeply committed to each and every one of our students and families at Yu Ying.

As a nonprofit organization, Washington Yu Ying is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. Among its many duties, the board provides governances, fiscal oversight and strategic planning for the school as we continue to work hard to provide a world-class education to students.
