Washington Yu Ying uses a Chinese language immersion model. The difference between language immersion and language instruction comes down to the amount of time spent using the target language (in this case, Chinese) and the focus of language instruction. In an immersion model, students spend at least half of all instructional time hearing, seeing, and using the target language. An instruction model typically involves a much smaller amount of time (a few hours per week).
